Serve the homeless in Denver for a Year

Interested in becoming a missionary with Christ in the City? All candidates are 18-26 year old Catholic adults who are actively practicing the Catholic faith. We serve in Denver, Colorado in the inner city areas. Missionaries live, serve and pray in intentional community. We have a training period of roughly two months to prepare them for induction into our growing family of missionaries. Applicants can expect to live in or near downtown Denver, in a mission house with men and women, and spend a majority of their day rubbing elbows with other missionaries who come from all over the country to serve Jesus in the poor and in each other in community life.

Life of a Missionary

The missionary life is not a 9-5 life.

The life of a missionary consists of Liturgy of the Hours, Mass, meals prepared and enjoyed together, and service on the streets of Denver at a minimum five days a week. Our regular schedule of prayer is a very important aspect in our formation to be stronger Catholics. Once a week, they receive extensive Intellectual Formation from one of many great professors from the Augustine Institute, Archdiocese of Denver Seminary, or other qualified professors from around the Archdiocese.

Missionaries receive regular Spiritual Formation in weekly dialogues, separated by genders, and organized by the Christian Life Movement. There is also spiritual direction available to all missionaries.

All interested applicants are asked to come visit once before their year or semester of service begins to make sure it will be a good fit for them and for the mission. If you would like more information on becoming a missionary or coming to visit please contact us at application@christinthecity.org. If you are interested in applying for any of our programs, all applications can be found on the Apply Now! page.[/fusion_text][/fullwidth][separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”” bottom_margin=”” sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””][fullwidth background_color=”#ffffff” background_image=”http://christincity.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/DenverSkyline4-e1452809990404-1024×237.jpg” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”center center” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_webm=”” video_mp4=”” video_ogv=”” video_preview_image=”” overlay_color=”” overlay_opacity=”0.5″ video_mute=”yes” video_loop=”yes” fade=”no” border_size=”1px” border_color=”#e5e4e4″ border_style=”solid” padding_top=”30px” padding_bottom=”35px” padding_left=”0px” padding_right=”0px” hundred_percent=”no” equal_height_columns=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” menu_anchor=”” class=”” id=””][fusion_text]

It transformed not only our group but our life on campus as well.
Christ in the City’s service to the poor is such a gift to the Archdiocese of Denver.
There was always laughter, a game of football or ultimate, or someone to hang out with.
