God’s grace combined with the generosity of our missionaries, local parishes, volunteers and our donors make the following programs and ministries possible. Please consider partnering with us as a volunteer, donor and/or in prayer.
The success of the following ministries is indicated through:
FREEDOM FROM ADDICTION
Through a series of conversations, we encourage those struggling with addiction to acknowledge their need and provide accountability for them to seek that help.
Connecting our friends on the street to meaningful work, though this varies based on each person’s condition, has been critical to them acknowledging their dignity as persons.
Our missionaries provide assistance with housing by educating themselves on local resources, helping to fill out paperwork, letters of recommendation etc.
RECONCILIATION WITH GOD
Missionaries fill up on prayer and sacraments, then through their consistency on the streets and authentic friendship with the homeless, they are able to give them an encounter with Christ.
Daily Street Ministry
Our missionaries go out daily, in teams of three, to their assigned streets to build ongoing relationships with the homeless that reside on those streets.
8,330 homeless encountered by our missionaries per year
Every Wednesday and Friday evening, our missionaries lead volunteer groups of young adults on a “Street Walk” to encounter the poor and open their eyes to the situation of homelessness in Denver.
700 local young adults volunteer with us every year
Christ in the City missionaries are joined throughout the year by groups of college students that want to spend their week-long break serving the poor. They fill up of on daily prayer, Mass and formation and then go out and share Christ’s love with our friends on the streets.
This program invites college-age students (19-28) to live in community with 25 of their peers encountering God in the homeless of downtown Denver and in the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Missionaries grow in their prayer life and receive formation to become a life-long Catholic leader.
Christ in the City interns are immensely valuable in sustaining our ministry. Though we accept applicants year-round, we’re in particular need of interns during the summer break between our Year of Service programs (July-August).
